Citizenship?

Well, maybe not, but we have at least nearly secured our Z visa. Due to recent legal changes in our province, the conversion of tourist (L) visas into working (Z) visas has been prohibited. We mentioned in a previous post that another teacher had to return to his home country because of this and, for a while, we had feared we may have to do the same. The only other option would have been a costly and time-consuming visa run to Hong Kong.

Luckily it seems that we may not have to do either as yesterday we completed the final paperwork for our Z visa. The local authorities have decided that converting visas is allowed in certain circumstances and, thankfully, they have given us the green light. We don”t want to get too excited in case it all goes wrong but the school doesn”t think there should be any problem. We are meant to be collecting our visa on Friday so I will post more information then.

Oh yeah, next week is sports day for the students! Should be fun…
